Week 3

 The main competitors to comparethemarket.com are confused.com, gocompare.com and moneysupermarket.com. Moneysupermarket.com is the market leader, well above the others. The graph below shows shows how many visitors each site has been getting over the past year. Comparethemarket.com has nearly always had a lower hit rate than these two rivals up until very recently this year, this may have been due to the successful marketing and advertising campaign that has been launched. According to the last statistics taken comparethemarket.com is getting more visitors than confused.com and gocompare.com.

When the words “insurance”, “car insurance” or “cheap car insurance” are typed into google, comparethemarket.com is always found close to the top of the list. Once you are actually on the site the navigation is very simple and easy to use. You select the what you are looking to get insurance on, fill in all your details that are required and it gives you a list comparing all the insurance offers availiable to you from the different companies. When you have selected the company you wish to get the the insurance from you just follow the instructions on screen and the insurance will be sent out to you.

Comparethemarket.com is attracting more consumers through social media activity, which increases the volume of the advertising campaign.  Aleksandr has 500,000 fans on Facebook, and 20,000 followers on Twitter. However, TV is going to remain the focus next year, and Comparethemarket.com is trialling interactive green-button ads on Sky. At the moment comparethemarket.com do not have a mobile application for smartphones like blackberry and iphone, i think this would be a real benefit for them to create this. It would mean people could easily get quotes whenever they wanted and it would be something none of its competitors have and so increasing its popularity further.
