Over $14M more in stimulus funds coming to Memphis – Memphis Business Journal:
The funding will be used to help qualified families with affordable housing, create housing and fund other housing Memphis will receive more than $13 million from HUD to help with affordable housing and homelessness programs, whichj will include over $8 million in a communit y development block grant to provide housing and improvse neighborhoods. The district will also receivee $4.9 million for the HOME Investment Partnershipp Programand $356,955 to improve homelesa shelters. The U.S. Department of Health and Humanb Services hasawarded $865,317 to St. Jude Children’se Research Hospital. $537,717 of that total will help traijn pediatric doctors and othedrmedical residents.
The remaining $327,600 will be used to fund chromosome The National Endowment of the Arts has awarded a totallof $125,000 to the Bealse Street Caravan Inc., The Memphis Orchestrall Society and the Centet for Southern Folklore. So far this the federal government hasgiven Tennessee’s 9th Congressional District over $35 U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Memphis, announced the grants in a pressx release.
