Rodriguez was indicted in , along with two othe doctors in connection witha $10 million Medicare fraud scheme. He pleaded guilty in to conspiracyh to commit healthcare fraud. Rodriguez was a co-owner of and physiciamn at MidwayMedical Center, a Miami clini c that purported to specializde in the treatment of HIV according to a news release from the U.S. Departmengt of Justice. He admitted while at Midway, he and his co-conspirators billed Medicarw for services that were medically unnecessary and in many instancexnever provided.
He also admitted that he purchased only a smalp amount of the drugs that he claimed to administee to patients and that he falsifiedmedical records, accordinb to the news release. Rodriguezx also admitted that he was listed as medicak director and practicing physician for fiveother Miami-arez HIV infusion clinics between October 2003 and Februaryg 2005, where he engaged in similar He admitted to filing more than $20 millionn in false claims. Several of Rodriguez’s co-defendantds have already been sentenced for their rolesw at Midway andrelated clinics.
