Good news, everyone! Glenn Beck is bleeding sponsors, on account of his assertion, last week, that President Obama is a “racist,” who neither likes nor understands white people. Curious how quickly the race card went into vogue on the other side of the aisle, ne? If you want to help continue this effort, go here.
Naturally, though, the right side of the aisle isn’t going quietly into that good night. After calling us Communist Nazis — which, again, doesn’t make sense, and runs counter to eight years of GOP whining about the same — RedState’s Erick Erickson urges you to e-mail the companies that’ve dropped Beck, and beg them to take him back (”I can change, I can change!”). He’s gathered the proper names and contact numbers:
SC Johnson: Steve Peckham, Senior Global Public Affairs Manager, SC Johnson
262.260.4402, swpeckha@scj.com (Update: this address bounces. RedState is now recommending this address, pmozbay@scj.com)Progressive Insurance: Linda Harris, Advertising & Sponsorships
Linda_J._Harris@progressive.comGeico: Chris Tasher, GEICO Media Relations
301.986.3271, ctasher@geico.com
Thanks for the research, Erick! We’ll take it from here. If you value civility and honesty on the airwaves, kindly e-mail these individuals, separately, and thank them for ditching Beck’s hate-talk hour of lies. Suggested letter:
Dear _____,
I was recently heard that your company, _____, decided to stop sponsoring Glenn Beck’s daily talk show, on the Fox News Channel.
Thank you! As an American who believes strongly in civility and honesty, I appreciate the message your decision sends to Fox News, that irresponsible race-baiting may be tolerated, but need not be encouraged. I also know you may come under fire for this decision, from some on the fringe of the conservative movement. I urge you to remain strong. My friends, my family, and myself will support your company and your decision. Indeed, the way I see it, the right’s knee-jerk outrage proves that you made the right decision in ending your support for Glenn Beck.
Thank you again. Corporate America can play a strong role in elevating political discourse in this country, and you’ve taken the first step. Sincerely,
_____.
