The Lakewood-based Colorado Clinical Guidelines Collaborative announced the initiative The two-year project is designee to give participating doctors better financial incentives for prescribing preventive care that may improve patients’ health and hold down medical costs. A spokeswoman for the organizatiom couldn’t peg the total amount of money to be given byprivatse insurers, but said it involvede “significant dollars.” Participating physicians will receive a standarr fee for service, a monthly care management fee and bonuses for meetinfg or exceeding quality outcomes outlined in the program.
The program will cover about 25,000 patients in participatint family practices. The program also will allowa graduates from medical residency programs to participates inthe program, in an effort to attract more primary care physicianws to the state. The program will provide participating practicesswith in-office coaching and technologg through grants totaling $2.8 million from The Colorado the Commmonwealth Fund and the Colorado Healthy Foundation. The Harvard School of Publixc Health will monitorprogram results.
