Conservatives don’t typically like mandates unless they involve penises and vaginas.
So it wasn’t surprising that Republicans took so poorly to the provision that mandated a certain level of car insurance for Wisconsin drivers. However, it was surprising that the insurance industry itself opposed the plan, which makes Wisconsin the final state to require car owners to purchase liability insurance:
The governor proposed and the Legislature adopted these mandates against the strong objections of the Wisconsin Insurance Alliance and its member companies throughout the state.
Andrew J. Franken is president of the Wisconsin Insurance Alliance.
So what did the Democrats do to upset the insurers off so much? Or does Franken just love liberty that much?
