Biloxi Man takes on State Farm
A Biloxi, Mississippi man, Reginald Bossier, sued State Farm for denying his home insurance claim after his outbuilding received storm damage from Hurricane Katrina.
According to Mary Perez at the Sun Herald, while the jury awarded the Plaintiff $52,300 in compensatory damages, it did not award him any punitive damages. The plaintiff’s attorney said State Farm preferred to pay its lawyers rather than its insureds’ claims and it would take a $2 million judgment to get State Farms attention.
